Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (2024)

Lore

Her name is a direct reference to Princess Kaguya, the main character from Taketori Monogatari (The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter) which is one of the oldest Japanese folktales. Accordingly, Princess Kaguya wears a hagoromo (feather mantle) when she returns home to her kingdom.

The name Ōtsutsuki (big bamboo tree) is derived from the second volume of the Kojiki about the genealogies of Emperor Suinin, Japan's eleventh emperor. It is stated that the emperor had a consort named Kaguya-Hime no Mikoto, the daughter of a king named Ōtsutsukitarine no Miko. As the tale goes, these individuals served as the basis for Princess Kaguya and the old bamboo cutter.

Her two golden horns resemble rabbit ears, representing her connection to the moon by evoking the moon rabbit; pop culture depictions of Princess Kaguya and the moon-folk often incorporate features like rabbit ears for this reason. This also fits with her being worshipped as the Usagi no Megami (Rabbit Goddess). This is further demonstrated when she took on a rabbit-like form after her Chakra becomes unstable when hit by Naruto's Sage Art: Super Tailed Beast Rasenshuriken. Kaguya's sealing inside the moon also provides a basis in the folklore.

Aspects of Kaguya also bear resemblance to Izanami-no-Mikoto (Shintō goddess of the dead). Like the goddess of the dead, Kaguya desires peace by taking over humankind and suspending them into bliss. This is similar to the concept of death leading into the afterlife. Her White Zetsu army is reminiscent of the Yomotsu-Shikome, Izanami's minions of Yomi.

Kaguya's consumption of the forbidden fruit is analogous to Eve eating the fruit of knowledge in Genesis. This was the original "sin" which lead to the downfall of humanity, which is similar to the more gruesome battles that followed the era of Chakra.

Origin

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (1)

Millennia ago, before people even had the concept of Chakra, humans constantly warred with one another. The seedling of the Shinju (the Divine Tree or the Tree of God) fell to Earth as an asteroid, and, as if soaking up energy from the bloodshed, grew into an enormous tree which towered above the countryside. The tree was indifferent to the sufferings of man and was absolved from the conflict and war. It was said that this Divine Tree housed the spirit of a demon and that people who approached the tree withered and died like leaves on a branch. Others considered the tree as a sacred pillar which extended into the Heavens. Once every 1000 years, it is said that the Divine Tree produces a tabooed fruit which humans were to never lay their hands on.

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (2)

In an effort to guard the tree for the clan, Kaguya came to Earth "from the stars" from a world far away in another dimension where the Ootsutsuki reside. Upon arriving at Earth, she was found by Emperor Lord Tenji's soldiers of the Land of Ancestors (Sou no Kuni) who saw what they believed to be a "shooting star" in the sky, which landed in a nearby bamboo forest. The glowing light faded and was revealed to actually be the young princess. Kaguya was escorted by the soldiers to Lord Tenji for questioning regarding her mysterious arrival. As if with a superiority complex and almost nonchalant persona, Kaguya remained silent to their words. She was thus was suspect to be a spy from the Land of Ka (Land of That) and was sentenced to detainment. Kaguya used telepathic powers to subdue the guards and put everyone unconscious, except for Lord Tenji, whom she slowly and gracefully walked to. She stated her name to him and claimed to be the guardian of the Divine Tree. Kaguya erased the memories of this initial encounter from Tenji and his constituents. Being seen as an angel from the stars, Kaguya was taken up as Tenji's concubine and was served by the attendant, Aino.

Kaguya was seen every night staring up at the starry sky with an unchanging expression. One night, Tenji approached her and gave her his robe to warm her and his company as they stared up at the night sky together. He asked her if she was waiting for someone else to arrive, to which she responded with a sombre expression while lowering her head. Tenji asked Kaguya what her deepest desires were, and, rare for Kaguya, she responded, and claimed that she only ever wanted world peace and for the wars and to end.

Rumors of the celestial concubine had spread far, and caught the attention of Suzaku, the minister of the Land of That (Ka no Kuni). A meeting between Lord Tenji and Suzaku took place in which Suzaku revealed documentation which claimed that an area of Tenji's land originally belonged to the Land of That. While the documentation was clearly fraudulent, Tenji gave in to the will of Suzaku because he, like Kaguya, did not want any further conflict between nations.

Some time later, Suzaku and his men developed an intimidating presence around the border of Tenji's land. Tenji, therefore, placed new orders on men to not engage in combat with the Land of That; a crime punishable by death. They were seen wreaking havoc on the common folk, once even bullying farmers by carelessly shooting arrows into their field to let their authority be known. Even knowing this, Tenji remained faithful to his new law.

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (3)

Kaguya and Aino were escorted by guards to one of Tenji's hideouts, should any conflict arise. One of the guards was secretly a spy from the Land of That and dropped a note which revealed the whereabouts of Kaguya. Hours later, in the middle of the night, Suzaku and his men invaded Tenji's hideout and killed many of Tenji's men before approaching Kaguya. Suzaku claimed that the Land of Ancestors now belonged to him and that all of Tenji's "property", including Kaguya, was now his. Several soldiers approached Kaguya, whom she blasted away into unconsciousness. She warned Suzaku and his men to not touch her with a calm and yet assertive voice. Several more soldiers ignored her warning and careless approached her. Kaguya used telekinetic powers to explode the men, leaving everyone but her covered in blood.

Suzaku and his soldiers were left terrified by Kaguya, whom they referred to as a monster or a witch. Kaguya and Aino left the scene immediately and headed towards to Shinju. Suzuki, along with a bound up fellow attendant as a witness approached the oblivious Lord Tenji to inform him that Kaguya had broken his law of non-violence. Tenji was in immediate disbelief and was even more shocked when he witnessed the massacre at his hideout. Put in a precarious position, Tenji ordered all of his men to find Kaguya and assassinate her, and to bring her head to Suzaku; only then would the war between the two nations be absolved.

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (4)

As Kaguya and Aino approached the Divine Tree, they noticed several pursuers in the distance. Several arrows of the pursuers rained down on the two of them, which Kaguya reflected to protect them. The sign on one of the arrows bore the mark of the Land of Sou. Suddenly, both Kaguya and Aino realised that Tenji had dispatched these soldiers. The duo quickly hurried towards the Divine Tree as Kaguya declared that her destiny is with the Shinju. While nearing the roots, more arrows were shot from Tenji's soldiers, which Kaguya failed to deflect as she fell to the ground in a heap. Kaguya stated that she was severely weakened and could not use her powers. Aino realised that Kaguya was with child; she was pregnant with Tenji's baby. Aino ran towards the soldiers declaring to cease fire- Kaguya was pregnant with the Emperor's child. More arrows rained down and killed Aino who sacrificed herself to save Kaguya and her children.

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (5)

Kaguya was horrified after witnessing the death of her attendant. Losing all faith in humanity, and in an effort to save her and her children's life, Kaguya approached the Tree of God, consumed the tabooed fruit, and became the first being to wield Chakra. Kaguya gained the Holy power, and the said angel ascended to a goddess. She used her newly-found power to end the wars by flying into space and opening a rip in the fabric of space-time to a dimension with a moon. She used this moon to place the people of Earth under the Infinite Tsukuyomi. Through the usage of the Divine: Nativity of a world of Trees, she spread the roots of the Shinju over the globe and ensnared all beings in its grasp.

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (6)

After a few moments, all but the goddess and her lover, Tenji, remained. The lovers remained in silence, staring at one another as the Divine Tree slowly encased Tenji. Tenji uttered her name, by which she responded by placing her palm on her belly and looking at her abdomen. Tenji remarked in utter disbelief of Kaguya's power, before being taken up by the divine tree. Kaguya declared that she would rule the world alongside her children.

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (7)

To ensure that creatures on Earth remained extant, Kaguya released a large portion of the populace and erased their memories of the Infinite Tsukuyomi. For her deeds of single-handedly ending the wars, the people of Earth revered Kaguya as "The Rabbit Goddess", a reference to her rabbit-ear-like horns. Kaguya was unchallenged and godlike; the inhabitants of Earth had no choice but to stare at Kaguya in awe and amazement of her complete omnipotence over them. Some people believed Kaguya to be a benevolent god, others, a tyrant. Despite the mixed views regarding Kaguya, the populace had no choice but to obey her and her law with unwavering loyalty. Kaguya would mostly respond to conflict and an uprising with love and acceptance. Over time, however, she grew despotic; she developed both a god-complex and a messiah-complex. The initial selflessness of the Kaguya that Tenji knew had become but a repressed self.

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (8)

She would go on to bear two sons in her lifetime, Hagoromo and Hamura, who directly inherited her power and were already born with powerful Chakra.

Over time, her power had eventually corrupted her, making her conceited and arrogant and the once-worshipped goddess was beginning to be feared as a demon or the Devil herself.

Shinju would ultimately take on a monstrous form, the Ten-Tails to reclaim its stolen power, but her children defeated it and ended up sealing the god-like being inside of Hagoromo.

Unbeknownst to them, Kaguya was crazed and sought to take back the power her sons inherited from her, merging with the Shinju and twisting it. Before she was sealed along with the Shinju, she created Black Zetsu, a physical manifestation of her will, to ensure her return. For around a millennium, Black Zetsu worked to bring its "mother" back and manipulated many people and events, and eventually, he was successful.

Appearance

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (9)

Kaguya possessed many features unique to the Otsutsuki clan even before consuming the Shinju Fruit. She had two ghostly, featureless, and pupil-less white eyes, which would later manifest into the Byakugan. Her skin was pale and flawless, and her bluish-white hair draped down to her ankles. Her eyebrows were cut short, a sign of ancient nobility in Japanese culture.

After consuming the Forbidden Fruit, a red third-eye, the Rinne Sharingan (Samsara Copy-Wheel eye), manifested on Kaguya's forehead, which consisted of concentric rings and nine tomoe. She grew two golden horns which resembled rabbit-ears, her fingernails grew long and dark, her hair grew much longer and draped over the floor, and she wore a dark red shade of lipstick. In addition, she gained a Chakra-kimono cloak which consisted of white, gold, and purple detailing, and tomoe down her mid-line and cuffs.

Powers & Abilities

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (10)

As the source of all Chakra on Earth, Kaguya is undoubtedly the most powerful being to have lived in the Naruto franchise. Even her son, the Sage of the Six Paths, Hagoromo (a legendary god-like figure) praised his mother's might as being far above his own.

Kaguya possessed supernatural powers even before eating the forbidden fruit. She could perform interstellar travel to travel to Earth. She initially possessed two featureless white eyes, which had psychic powers used to hypnotise, subdue, erase memories, and sedate individuals. She could also unleash an energy wave to telekinetically deflect arrows or slaughter people in close range.

After eating the Shinju's fruit, she gained god-like physical and magical prowess. She manifested the Shinju's powerful eye on her forehead, the Rinne-Sharingan, and her two white eyes evolved into the Byakugan. Many of Kaguya's unique Jutsu is the source of all other derived (albeit weaker) techniques seen throughout the series. Such examples are; bone manipulation, hair manipulation, space-time manipulation, and all Dojutsu. Kaguya's Jutsu transcend both Kekkei Genkai (Bloodline limit) and Kekkei Touta (Bloodline Selection) as she houses each-and-every Nature type.

As the Founder of Chakra, Kaguya can absorb any and all Jutsu used against her. She can levitate and fly, travel through dimensions using portals, paralyse and mind-control people, instantly change worlds, destroy and create entire dimensions, and even merge with nature and control the world. She is also capable of enslaving the entire world in a Genjutsu and turning said individuals into her soldiers. She is also a sensory-type, which means she can sense the location and type of Chakra from individuals from an indefinite range.

With her Rinne-Sharingan, which is the progenitor of the Rinnegan and the Sharingan, she can easily cast and recognise Genjutsu, mind-read, and has empathic abilities as seen when she read her son, Hagoromo's, thoughts and feelings. She can likely also copy all Jutsu (an ability of the Sharingan). The Sharingan's powers also give her limited precognition, and the ability to see in slow-motion. And, since her third-eye is the originator of the Rinnegan, she can likely use all Ninjutsu; she also has each and every type of bloodline, including Yin-Yang release, which further supports this possibility.

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (11)

With her Kekkei Moura (Bloodline encompassing) Byakugan, she has 360° x-ray and zoom vision, which she can use to see invisible barriers, and see the internal organs and Chakra network of individuals. The visual acuity of the Byakugan is far greater than the Sharingan, which can even see the details of microscopic nano-sized beetles and subcellular bombs in a bloodstream. Upon their activation, she can also raise her Chakra-levels which unleash shockwaves to subdue opponents, as seen when she overwhelmed her other son, Hamura.

Claiming to be immortal and unageing, Kaguya needs to be sealed with the Six Paths seals of Yin and Yang. Kaguya was shown to reform her material form and regrow her severed arm from a mass of pure Chakra.

Kekkei Moura Genjutsu (Telepathy)

Mugen Tsukuyomi

Literal meaning; Infinite Moon Reader

Kaguya reflects an image of her Rinne Sharingan on the moon, which shines a penetrating light over the world and traps all living beings in its glare. All sentient beings are immobilised and an image of the Rinnegan appears in their eyes, indicating that the Jutsu has taken effect. Individuals are ensnared by the roots of the Divine Tree through the usage of the Jutsu; Divine: Deep Forest Emergence and are wrapped in cocoon pods.

The Jutsu creates an empty dimension within the minds of all affected individuals and fills this dimension with the contents of their deepest desires. The entire world will then reside within individual illusory worlds forever, living in a utopian dream-like delusion, free from conflict and suffering. Both Kaguya and Madara Uchiha used this Jutsu as means of ensuring world-peace.

This Jutsu is the progenitor of all other Genjutsu in the Naruto franchise.

Kanashibari no Jutsu

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (18)

Literal meaning; Temporary Paralysis Technique

When in close proximity to an individual, Kaguya can paralyse a target as if psychically restrained by steel rods, and control their movements. This was first seen when the goddess approached Naruto and Sasuke from behind through a portal; she halted their movements, telepathically turned them around to face her, and absorbed their Chakra.

Mind control

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (19)

While not directly seen in the Manga, in the Anime, Kaguya was shown to be able to take hostage of an individual's mind and bend their actions to her will.

After she took Hamura captive, she forced him to fight his brother, Hagoromo, in a battle to the death. This control was only released when Hagoromo stabbed his brother through the chest with a ball of lightning.

Kaguya can also read the thoughts and emotions of a person. She can also erase memories of individuals.

Kekkei Moura Jikuukan (Space-Time Manipulation)

Ame no Minaka

Literal meaning; Heavenly Governing Inside

A god-like world-changing ability used only by Kaguya Ootsutsuki with her Rinne-Sharingan,

With her third eye, Kaguya transforms the world around her and those nearby by summoning a series of alternate dimensions. The dimensions she can change to are: a lava-filled dimension, an icy dimension, a dimension with a sea of acid, a desert dimension, a dimension with pyramid-shaped terrain and high gravity, and a core mountainous dimension (the Genesis dimension) that links all the others together. There is a castle-like construct in at least two of her dimensions, which mirror each other's topography and geography.

The dimensional transfer occurs nigh instantly and is thus impossible to avoid. Individuals have suddenly found themselves falling into a world of lava, or abruptly being frozen in a mountainside.

Kakashi states that Kaguya can rewrite all aspects of these realms and make it a reality, which he compares to the creation of Genjutsu. He also compares Kaguya to a god after witnessing this power.

Even with her enormous Chakra reserves, multiple uses of this technique began to take a tole on her. This makes it a Jutsu usable only by Kaguya.

Yomotsu Hirasaka

Literal meaning; Underworld Slope Hill

This Jutsu is named after the Japanese mythological slope which leads to the Underworld.

With her third eye, Kaguya creates rips within the fabric of space-time. She can use these dimensional tears to travel between two places in the same dimension, or between alternate dimensions. Kaguya uses these portals for both offensive and defensive purposes; she can hide inside another dimension and attack using the world, drag select individuals to other places, attack an enemy from uncertain angles, or teleport behind an enemy and invade their personal space.

This Jutsu is believed to be the progenitor of all space-time Ninjutsu.

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (25)
Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (26)

Kekkei Moura Ninjutsu

Bochou Gudoudama

Literal meaning; Expansive Truth-Seeking Orb

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (27)

After absorbing the Chakra from Earth, Kaguya produces a maximised Truth-Seeking Ball.

Truth-Seeking Balls are spheres of malleable black Chakra that the user can manipulate for defensive and offensive purposes. They are a Kekkei Moura (Bloodline Encompassing) Jutsu which house each and every combination of the Natural Elements: Fire, Earth, Water, Lighting, Wind, Yin and Yang. With this amalgamation, they can neutralise any incoming attacks not infused with Senjutsu (Sage Chakra). With Yin-Yang (Onmyouton) release, they can "reduce all to nothing" and "create all from nothing". These two energies are polar opposites, the physical (Yang) energy is used to create form from nothing, and the spiritual (Yin) energy breathes life into those forms.

While a user of Six Paths Senjutsu manifests a fixed number of 10 fist-sized orbs which are always on standby (neither creatable nor destructible) they cannot compare to Kaguya's Gudoudama in its sheer size or numerous creations. It is described as a "vast expanding mass of chaos" with the power to reshape the world by first "obliterating it to nothingness". Black Zetsu stated that this Gudoudama essentially served as a destruction and/or creation of an entire space and time.

This suggests that Kaguya has to power to both destroy and create whole dimensions with at least a planet and surrounding celestial objects inside.

Shin: Jukai Koutan

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (28)

Literal meaning; Divine: Deep Forest Emergence or God: Nativity of a world of Trees

Under her complete control of the Divine Tree, Kaguya manipulates the roots of the Shinju, which spread across the planet and seize all living things. All those affected by the Infinite Tsukuyomi are wrapped up in cocoon pods and their energy is feasted upon by the tree. Once captured, an individual cannot be released by normal means; merely cutting the branches will result in another branch manifesting to recapture the victim.

Aside from Kaguya, only an individual, or pair of individuals, with both the Rinnegan and the power of all nine Bijuu can release the Jutsu after weaving the Ne (Rat) hand seal. Kaguya used this Jutsu not only to ensure world-peace but as a way to cultivate a massive amount of Chakra from her "nursery", growing stronger the longer she accumulates Chakra.

After an unspecified period of time, those under the effects of the Jutsu are slowly drained of their previous identity and become shells of their former selves. The result is a Shiro Zetsu (White Zetsu). Kaguya planned on turning the human race into an army of White Zetsu to defend herself and the Shinju fruit should any Ootsutsuki members arrive at Earth.

Kaguya initially released the majority of those under Infinite Tsukuyomi and erased their memory of the events prior. She did this to avoid the entire human race from going extinct, and to ensure that future generations could procreate and multiply. She enforced a ritual known as the "Ritual of the Divine Tree" whereby select people would be sacrificed to the tree to add to her soldiers.

This Jutsu is the Progenitor of all other derived Mokuton (wood-release) Jutsu.

Control of Nature

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (34)

Kaguya merges with her dimension, which she completely and freely controls at her whim. Kaguya was first seen creating a storm and manipulating lightning when Hagoromo introduced her. In her fight against Naruto, she merged with her ice dimension and caused natural disasters. She created avalanches and attacked with the mountains and icicles as if they were her own claws. In essence, Kaguya can become one with Nature. She was also shown changing the gravity in one of her dimensions to compensate and adjust for the trajectory of her attacks.

This Jutsu is believed to be the progenitor of Senpo: Muki Tensei (Sage Art: Inorganic Reanimation).

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (35)

Juubi: Bijuudama

Literal Meaning; Ten Tails: Tailed Beast Bomb

Kaguya merges her will with the Divine Tree, which transforms into the Juubi. This monstrous beast towers over the mountains and is the projenitor of all other nine Bijuu in Naruto.

By mixing a ratio of positive and negative Chakra (8:2, respectively) the beast creates a sphere of energy which can be released as either a ball, beam or wave. The destruction caused by the bomb can devastate mountainranges or entire couintries, depending on the amount of energy accumulated.

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (36)
Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (37)

Juubi: Tenpenchii

Literal meaning; Ten Tails: Cataclysm

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (38)

The Juubi absorbs an imeasurable amount of Natural Energy (Shizen enerugī) and uses said Chakra to unleash an array of natural distastes over the country.

The distastes include, but are not limited to; earthquakes, tornadoes, lightning strikes, and tsunamis. The accumulated destruction of this technique left an enormous crater in the Country of Frost during the 4th Shinobi World War.

Kekkei Moura Taijutsu (Hand-to-hand combat)

Tomogoroshi no Haikotsu

Literal meaning; Murderous Bone Ash

A certain-death Kekkei Moura Taijutsu technique.

Kaguya uses her Chakra to change the property of her bones. She sprouts multiple bone spears from her back and the palms of her hand, and fires these weaponised structures at an enemy. When these bones hit a living organism, the bone and victim begin to deteriorate at a molecular level, rotting the target and disintegrating them into a pile of ash. Kaguya can fire these bones from a distance, or impale an enemy in close range as a spear. She often makes use of her portals to send attacks from behind.

This Jutsu is the progenitor of the Shikotsumyaku (Dead Bone Pulse) used by select individuals of the Kaguya clan, who directly inherited this power from the Rabbit Goddess. However, the power and deadliness pale in comparison.

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (39)
Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (40)

Yasogami Kugeki

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (41)

Literal meaning; Eighty-Gods Vacuum Palm

An offensive and defensive Kekkei Moura Taijutsu used by Kaguya Ootsutsuki.

By her mastery of Chakra, Kaguya loads an enormous amount of chakra onto her palm, and unleashes it as a barrage of countless energy fists. The fists attack with such power and ferocity that they can easily overpower Naruto's Six Paths Sage Mode enhanced Chakra arms and shatter Sasuke's Rinnegan-enhanced Complete Body Susanoo.

While this is indeed a devastating power, the Jutsu is actually the progenitor of both the Hyuuga clan's Juuken (Gentle Fist) which bypasses physical durability and attacks internal organs and Tenketsu (Chakra pressure-points) and Gouken (Strong fist) which exerts devastating external blows, used by disciples of Maito Gai.

When coupled with the Byakugan, this Jutsu has the potential to be Kaguya's most powerful offensive and defensive ability.

Togebari

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (42)

Literal meaning; Rabbit-Hair Needle

Kaguya uses her Chakra to harden her hair, which she unleashes as a bombardment of needle senbon raining down upon her foes. The unleashed skewers attack with such penetrating force that they can pierce through Sasuke's Rinnegan-enhanced Susanoo.

When her Byakugan is active, Kaguya can targen the Tenketsu of an enemy to shut off their Chakra network, which inhibits movement and stops them from performing Jutsu.

This Jutsu is the progenitor of other senbon attacks in the series, such as Kebari Senbon (Hair Needle Senbon) but again, cannot compare the a power and versatility of Kaguya's.

Hair-binding technique

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki (Character) - Comic Vine (43)

Kaguya uses her Chakra to increase the metabolism of her scalp, which allows her to strengthen her extremely long and white hair, which she can then lengthen or shorten to reach and attack foes from a distance. Kaguya uses her hair to physically restrain enemies, absorb their Chakra, or to throw and toss assailants around the battlefield.

While superficially simple in execution, her mere hair is powerful enough to hold down Naruto and Sasuke while amplified with Six Path's Chakra.

This power is the progenitor of all other hair-manipulation in the series, such as Jiraiya's Ranjishigami no Jutsu (White Lion's Mane Technique).
